Apartment 7A - Satan

In late 2021, we had the opportunity to collaborate with the incredible director Natalie Erika James on Apartment 7A, her sequel to Rosemary’s Baby. Our primary task was designing the Prince of Darkness himself! Natalie had some really outside-the-box and creepy ideas of what satan could look like, so it was a blast taking a swing at that in the first round.
After some iterations, an incredibly talented artist in the Weta design studio further developed the concept in ZBrush. I then had the chance to refine it further, adding some more layers of detail and texture.
They ended up going with a more traditional depiction of the Devil in the end, but It was a really fun, quick project. There’s still some remnants of this design in the sequence covered entity in Terry's Nightmare.
